Wildlife Care Specialist at OWCN

Sam began volunteering with wildlife as a college student. She worked in the wild bird clinic at Tri-State Bird Rescue in Newark, Delaware from 2009-2013. In 2013, Sam graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Wildlife Conservation and began working full-time on Tri-State’s oil spill response team and traveled to oil spills and trainings around the country.

In 2016, Sam became the Rehabilitation Manager of the Hawaii Wildlife Center in Kapaau, Hawaii.

Life transplanted her to Idaho for a short time before she ultimately accepted the position of Wildlife Care Specialist for the Oiled Wildlife Care Network in 2019. The OWCN is within the Wildlife Health Center and One Health Institute at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

In her “free time” Sam and her fiance, John, rescue and rehabilitate cats, dogs, and exotics.
